I am really excited about the invitation I received to partner with Color ATL, a new creative initiative bringing together 40 Atlanta-based artists in the effort to produce a most unique adult coloring book.
“Color ATL believes the creative experience is a way to connect and build relationships, cultivate self-value and self-control, ease stress, promote peace, and build healthier community in places of hardship. The mission of this project is to bring the therapeutic process of creativity (via adult coloring books) to local organizations with limited art programming, in efforts to improve the quality of life of people in difficult situations.”
Every ‘Color ATL’ Coloring Book purchased by a patron will also supply a coloring book to a person within a cancer center, homeless center, recuperative care facility, nursing home, etc. free of charge. This is the backbone of the mission – supplying the opportunity of creative relief to those who can’t afford it or are not prone to initiate the process.
I am so excited to be a part of this thoughtful creative collaboration. What a fantastic way to bring encouragement and hope to those who need it, while also giving local artists a platform to create something of meaning for their community.
It didn’t take me long to break out my ink pens and began working on a design fitting with my latest series. I just recently finished and cannot wait to see the artworks of the other 39 participating artists.
